What is a Phoenix Rising Style Yoga Class?
Through theme* based yoga postures, participants are facilitated through an experience of him or herself in the present moment. Whether the present moment is inviting a physical, emotional, intellectual or spiritual experience, participants have an opportunity to find richness in relationship to the bigger picture of how what they became aware of connects to their daily life - work, play, family and relationships. Using focused breathing and deliberate held postures, participants explore a deeper attunement to his/her own internal guiding compass. Through this process of awareness and discernment, participants have the opportunity to release old undigested experiences, traumas, personal beliefs and out-of-date habits and patterns to then move more fully into life with new perspective and personal efficacy.
*In the 8 Week Group participants explore their bodies through 8 different themes: Befriending the Body, Awareness, Acceptance, Choice, Discernment, Truth, Truth In Action and Flow. The All Day Silent Retreat is a day of silence dedicated to exploring relationship to self and others.

The 8 week program integrates the aspects of a one-on-one session into a facilitated group experience.
It is very important that if you are signing up for the 8 week programs that you commit to all weeks of group as well as the all day retreat.
* Please be aware as that the partner yoga class at the all day silent retreat requires some touch between group member through yoga postures.

"I still don't know exactly how to describe this group yoga therapy experience, but I am so grateful for having had this experience. For the first time in years, I am feeling my feelings instead of eating them, and I believe I am now on a path to being truly happy and healthy. As someone who has struggled with depression and eating disorders for since childhood, I never thought I could contemplate a life without frequent bouts of misery, but that changed in the eight weeks of my first experience with mindfulness-based yoga therapy. I now believe that I am capable of dealing with life, of staying engaged and mindful even when things are difficult, and living with both good and bad emotions. It will take practice and effort, but for the first time I have an approach that allows me to access and process the things that have made me shut down in the past. Thank you so much for giving me a new chance at life."
